§ 72.27. POLICE DUTIES REGARDING PARKING VIOLATIONS.

  • When any vehicle is found parked in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter, it shall be the duty of any police officer of the city to report to the City Clerk the state license number of such vehicle, the time when such vehicle was found so parked, and any other facts necessary to a thorough understanding of the circumstances attending such violation; and said police officer shall attach to such vehicle a notice to the owner or operator thereof that such vehicle has been parked in violation of the provisions of this chapter and instructing such owner or operator to report to the office of the City Clerk in regard to such violation; and such owner or operator shall within 24 hours of the time when such notice was attached to such vehicle pay to the Clerk of the city as a penalty for and in full satisfaction of the such violation the sum of $1.00 and all such penalty fees paid to said clerk shall be deposited in the General Fund of the city. The failure of such owner or operator to make said payment within said 24 hours shall render such owner or operator subject to the penalties hereinafter provided for the violation of the provisions of this chapter.
